Education is the key element of a human life because it enhances our capabilities and gives us the ability to achieve our desired objectives of economic and socio development.
Education enables us to make our own decision and it broadens our horizons of knowledge so that we can meet the challenges and to have a voice in public decision making.
Higher Education is the education that we take after completing our secondary education. There is a wide range of fields in which we can excel. Different countries have different standards and quality of Higher Education.
Great nations emphasize more on their Higher Education because it would give us the cream at both the micro and macro level that will pave our country towards development.
For maintaining better standards following things should be kept in mind. In Higher Education system there should be cooperation between students and professors. There should be no negative criticism because it directly affects the educational quality and standards of universities. Universities should have their own spokespersons, reporting of what is happening in teaching pupils. Professors in the universities should be well informed all the time. They have an ample time so they should write articles that should convey the ideas to the students.
Further more The Department of Higher Education Task Force on student’s financial aid suggested that financial support should be provided to the needy students so that they can get qualified people and scholarships should be provided depending on their capabilities. Distance learning and technology based programs should be introduced so that students can enhance their knowledge. There are weekends, evening, and compressed time programs, there are semesters, quarters, and intensive summer programs and so on. They should be practiced for better standards.
Role of Students:
In the field of education, the role of students depends a lot. A competent, self motivating and constructive students are required.
Higher Education in Pakistan:
Education contributes much in the development of the country but a survey concludes that development indicators are not showing positive results. Higher Education Commission (HEC) is playing a very important role in Higher Education. There are many factors involved in it.
· There are problem s in the quality of staff, students, library and laboratory.
· Very low access in universities.
· Very low quality in the field of academic, research, administration and equipment.
· Ignorance of student character building.
· Fault in our examination system.
· Good governance is non existent.
· Standards of merit should be maintained in private sector.
· Political activities should be banned.
